Chiming in on this discussion. I was using an Onkyo 7030 CDP as a transport and felt like it was pretty blah.
I heard about the Cambridge Audio CXC Transport and as luck would have it one showed up locally the next day for sale at under $300.
I grabbed it and WOW. I'm blown away with the improvement. Who knew those 800 CDs in my attic could sound so good.
I realize the CXC is one of the less expensive transports out there - I'm likely going to have to upgrade to the Audiolab 9000CDT or Jay’s Audio CDT2-MK3.
To make a short story long - I brought down 13 boxes of CDs from the attic and picked the 250 or so most relevant CDs to put on a revised shelf unit in my "office."
I've been streaming Qobuz for the past couple of years and super happy - but this is better right now.
