Glad you guys saw the thread about the record store. A hint, look under the bins as there are records everywhere. I saw a copy of the Mercury boxed set of Dorati doing the Tchaikovsky 4 Suites for Orchestra hiding there. While these sound like early works they are not they were composed between the 4th & 5th symphonies. They don't have the life or death struggle of the symphonies that follow but they are worth having and are nicely recorded. I didnt check stampers which are critical for Mercurys. They should be preferably non-vendor RFRs. If they are either CTRFR or Ms, skip it for a better copy. I also saw the two record set of Dorati doing Tchaikovskys first three symphonies. Ditto on stampers on this one.
Cincinnati, OH, any audiophiles?
Any Cincinnati, OH -based audiophiles on this forum? I have found only one truly high end dealer here, and they are leaning more and more towards high end home theater so they tend to be quite busye, and no longer set up truly "reference" systems one can listen to for calibration. Would love to get into touch with other fellow maniacs in the area Hard to know what else you "need" unless you can hear it and covet it in someone else's set up!
