Computer updated and now Roon is blocked

My windows 10 laptop updated by Microsoft and now I can't get Roon past the initial icon for Roon. I tried a few "allow" setting on my computer and they both are set on allow private and public. I don't where to look next. The community board on Roon was no help, so I decided to ask here. Thx

1.Can you be more specific about what occurs when you launch Roon?  Is there an error?  What**does** happen and exactly when does it stop?

2. Just for fun i booted full roon (not running as a core tho) on my Lenovo Windows 10 machine with latest updates.  Worked fine.  I normally run ROCK and have my clients on phones and Macs.

Roon is very low stress re: graphics. I run it on all sorta of crappy systems.

Theer ar eno audio drivers per se.  Its digital out on USB or ethernet. There are USB audio profiles, but those are now part of Win10

jeffex00,

You may have some corrupt operating system files.  Open command prompt (as an admin) and run the command sfc /scannow.  From the task bar > type here to search > enter cmd > open command prompt as admin.  If the results show integrity violations, run it again.  You may have to run it several times.  More about this feature are here.

I would not update any of your drivers until you have verified that you have the latest version of Windows 10, Version 21H2.  Sometimes manufacturers will have different drivers depending on the build version of Windows.  Here is the Windows 10 Lifecycle Policy.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-10-home-and-pro

From the task bar > type here to search > enter winver > a window will open and show the version.  If it's not 21H2, then update your OS using the Microsoft Update Assistant found here.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Click the "Update now" button and follow the prompts (be sure your laptop is plugged in and charging).

Once you have 21H2, then use the HP Support Assistant to check for driver updates.  The latest version is Assistant 9 and can be downloaded here.

If these steps still don’t resolve the issue, then doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of Roon would be a good idea.  I prefer using Revo uninstaller (free version) opposed to the built in uninstall options of Windows.  If you decide to use it, be sure to scan for and delete the leftovers.  Revo can be downloaded from here.

If you followed all these steps and the issue is still unresolved, following the Roon recommend fixes posted by noromance would be a good idea.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Well I took CD84 suggestions. Everywhere I checked, all was good. When I had uninstalled the program originally I was reluctant to delete a folder called " setting and data". I bit the bullet and using Revo I deleted everything. I then reinstalled Roon and now most everything is working properly. Interesting enough, Qobuz, saves the artists and the albums for each artist I've chosen, but doesn't save my playlists.

Well, my next goal will hopefully to resurrect  my playlist from the copy of the folder Revo was supposed to have create before everything was wiped.

I want to thank the members for all their help. Especially CD84 and noromance.

I do want call out Roon's lack of support and it's reliance on the "community" to help customers resolve computer issues with their product. If I can find a better product that includes better customer support, I'd be will try it and drop Roon.

for the future, make n explicit backup of your Roon settings.  All new installs ought to be fully "clean". Then import the settings form the backup to that clean version. You kinda neglected that important fact!

Glad itsworking.
