Dual subwoofers, monoblocks, pairing with accoustic suspension speakers

Hi-

I want to find a pair of subwoofers that can meet a fairly interesting set of criteria...

  1. Pair nicely with a set of KLH Model 5's, which are acoustic suspension and so have a slower roll-off than ported designs.
    Stereophile freq response measurements
    Steeophile's measurements
  2. Powered by monoblocks (Schiit Vidar's) next to each speaker, fed by XLRs which are run through the wall.  Thus the only connectors that are convenient to the speakers are the line-level XLR going into the amp (which I could split). and the speaker terminals at the amp or at the speaker.

  3. Budget that's consistent with $2.5k retail worth of speakers

I suppose an alternative would be to get a single subwoofer and feed it with line-level coming out of the pre-amplifier (which does not have bass-management, but does have a spare pair of single-ended outs).

Also, it's a big room (22 x 42) and the KLH speakers are located on one of the shorter ends, with one side adjacent to an opening to the kitchen.  But I don't listen to this system at earth-shattering levels.

The REL T7x has the advantage of preferring the Neutrik Speakon, so being very "native" to this application.  I could also use a pair of SVS SB1000 Pro's, which also have high-level inputs - I'd be attaching two speaker cables to the terminals of the Vidars, which some prefer. Rythmik and HSU are also interesting.  The Rythmik F12G can be configured with one XLR in and one XLR out, which enables me to set a high pass.   All of the REL, SVS and Rythmik are available in white gloss which is attractive.  The HSU 15 is probably overkill for my scenario.

Given the shallower than most roll-off I imagine that I can set the cut-off for the subwoofer(s) fairly low.  So maybe the right answer is a single subwoofer or to at least try it.   But I'd be very interested to hear what people think the optimal answer is.
