EtherREGEN or LHY SW-6? Anyone compare the 2? Thoughts/opinions?

Hi, All,

So just when I was ready to pull the trigger on the EthgerREGEN, at the last minute I came across the LHY SW-6. Thanks to all who took the time to respond to my previous post about adding an Ethernet switch/power supply.

The only 2 pcs that will be connected to the switch is my streamer (Eversolo DMP-A6 Master) and a Brennan B2 CD Ripper. I also just added 2 Ethernet cables from Pine Tree Audio (solid stuff very reasonable prices)

My final decision has come down to these 2. Both are same cost-wise and I have read great things about both. Anyone compare the 2 or have any opinion as to which direction to go? My only concern is that the EtherREGEN runs very hot. I've always felt that something that runs hot may have a shorter shelf life?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and time...

@maxwave I also spoke with Alex from UpTone and the Gen2 will be in very high demand and hard to get. It’ll sell out quick. The heat generated by the ER is what concerns me. Plus I don’t want to wait that long. Right now the Gen 1 is in stock and ready to ship.

+1 for LHY. Etheregen initially sounds like its offering improved clarity, but to my ears the sound is a bit un natural, brittle and tiring after a while, which is not uncommon in my experience with media convertors. It is improved with the afterdark clock, but personally I prefer the etheregen coming in and and out of the "a" side using it like a tradtional switch. and avoiding the "moat". Things have moved on quite a bit since the ER came out and the LHY is beautifully made and more importantly has a far more balanced, natural sound and realistic sound stage, is also times a lot better which is hard to find in switches. Obvs just my two cents and i know theres a lot of love out there for the ER

@teknorob23 thank you! Very helpful! I am definitely leaning heavily towards the LHY. Still have not pulled the trigger but I've pretty much decided on the LHY. Yes there is a lot of love for the ER but you're analysis seems spot on, thank you very much for sharing.

no probs, i dont think you'll be disappointed and you'd need to spend significantly more to do any better.  :-)
