Gallion -A-75 Power Amplifier - Much Biggerin sound then the Number
have seen this Gallion A75. On you tube for awhile and was very skeptical of it ,I wanted a back up amp to have ,and use in. My wife’s audio system . I heard a lot of other members saying how can a 75wpc amp ,100 conservatively into 4 ohms do much but at moderate levels , this is a True Dual mono design ,think mono blocks much more storage capacitance then many ,my parasound A21 has only 80k in capacitance this in total around 180k and stacked dual transformers ,xlr as well as rca, it weighs around 40 lbs having been in Audio for 40+ years and owning a Audio store for a Decade until 2010 I know Audio gear very well, and parts quality
the vast majority of power filtering capacitors are Elna top notch from Japan , also Nichicon-Japan ,as well as Wima from Germany , which you get the current you need for punch is your output devices Sanken which are very well known 2 Big ones per channel I don’t know off hand how many amps , this is very important . I heard this Amplifier at one of a bunch of Audio get togethers I go to ,being semi retired . I heard this 1st with speakers that day , Maggi 1.7 were first , I owned 3 Maggie myself before and not the easiest to drive. This so called 100 wpc amp- 4 ohms. Hand a iron grip on the panel , very Big and open with a nice meaty presentation. , detail was very good for $1500 it was better then my $3500 parasound A21 especially in bass midBass impact and that amp has 250 + wpc .
it reminds me of a Pass labs 25wpc 26 class A amp , we used a older pass labs preamp ,this amp is like A El34 tube like sound with ⚽️ 🏀 S , the parasound we used to compare, the parasound a bit better ultimate detail , but it didnot have the grip and control of the Gallion . The other speaker was a Stand mount Dynaudio Contour SE model which was maybe 87 db and not that easy to drive we were seated roughly 12 feet away in a 14x16 room, this amp , gave this stand mount a rock solid grip and better Bass ,for this speaker the owned has a Hegel 190 integrated amp which has very good grip and control ,but still not as punchy in the Bass the Gallion has excellent control ,and very respectable detail ,we played at roughly 90 DB peaks for me pretty loud , No it’s not like a 110 db Deep Purple concert of old ,but plenty for most people if made in Europe $4k all day long . Our Audiophile tech friend stated because of the current of the Sanken output devises and the Huge capacitance reserves for dynamic swings ,that is why the WPC rating 75-100is very deceptive. It’s is like saying a 70wpc Vacuum tube amp has no power , it’s under the hood that counts most. I am now sold ,I bought one and put a Hifi tuning Silver Gold fuse 20 mm ,6.3 Amp slow blow fuse , which added more openness and sparkle vs the stock buzz fuse. A no 🧠 Brainer purchase . For $1500 nothing is even close . you can’t judge a book by its cover ,in this case Very True .
