"Do you have any idea how the sloped baffle changes the sound signature?"
Without having listened to the version 2, the sloped baffle and how the drivers are arranged, mid/woofer on top and the tweeter below, should cause the high frequencies to arrive earlier than the mid/low frequencies. Usually you will notice with any of the sloped baffled speakers that the tweeters are located on top to in order to time align the frequencies. So it's curious why Gemme Audio designed the version 2 in a different way. I'd assume it to be exciting or forward sounding. The tweeter itself is very nice and sweet, so again, my comments are based on visual aspects of the speaker only.
"Also, regarding your v1’s, how strong are the bass and lower mid frequencies – especially for rock, blues, etc.? Can they give a real mid bass punch to that kind of music without a sub in mid or lesser sized rooms?"
Comments only relating to version 1s:
My room is about 17 X 16, and absolutely the version 1s can fill it with a large, heavy sound with heavy rock, rock and electronic music. This is one of the reasons I bought them, as my Dynaudio Focus 140 monitors were just not capable of doing that, they were too polite. Based on some tone testing I did, they produce good audible bass down to 35Hz or below. Actual bass is distinguishable till 30Hz in my room, but at that point it's attenuated quite a bit. I listen to everything and needed something that sounded good with everything, that's what they do. Keep in mind, while they are not the ultimate in resolution, they are very coherent and capable speakers.
And no, they don't have a tunable port, unsure what are the differences between version 1 and 2.
