’sexist’ implies an ’ism’. I don’t think that is the case here. It is simply a reality of the differences between the sexes in regards to general preferences, which does exist. Believe it of not ;-) , there are differences.
I’ve been a residential designer for many years, and there its little doubt the woman of the household is much more concerned with the ’decoration aspect’ of the home vs the man of the house (probably 85-95% more concerned). That is just the way it is. I have rarely discussed, in detail, those things with the husband, but the wife worries about those things first, even before we begin the broad floor planning aspects. And, there comes a time when the husband is satisfied with the overall direction, and leaves the rest to the wife. That is just the way it is folks. No ’ism’ involved.
The one area I do find the husband more concerned about is how/what their house will look like from the street. That should be no surprise, should it?
Are there times when these things flip, or are not as seperate in terms of preference and concern of detail? Yes, but it is much more rare.
Large speakers, or an equipment rack within a room, and exposed to become part of the decor, are just a part of that difference I’ve seen over many many years.
