Flitz will work fine, NeverDull, anything like that. Remove with a Q-tip and alcohol. Most important part is a thin coat of Total Contact at the end.
Maintenance of unplated copper binding posts
For those of you with speakers having unplated copper binding posts (like Cardas CCBP-S), what's your care and maintenance routine?
Cardas said to remove any tarnish with household copper cleaner. This seems straightforward for flat, easily exposed spade connecting surfaces, but I use bananas, so I want to clean the inside, female part of the binding post. I worry about not being able to see inside and leaving residue or damaging an internal connection.
I was thinking of using something like Flitz Paste Polish...applying it with a foam bore-tip cleaning swab (like Swab-It firearm cleaning swabs), then cleaning with several fresh ones, ending with a swab or two of 99% isopropyl alcohol to remove any residue and oils.
Please share any tips you might have from your experience. Many thanks.
