Mark Levinson not Martin Logan
Mono blocks for Revel Salon 1’s recommendation?
I have been looking to upgrade my Krell KMA 160 mono blocks. I have a Krell KRC -HR and an Oppo Modwright player. I want to stay with mono blocks and thought I would stay in the late 90’s to 2010 range with something class A…but with all the new smaller amps out there etc, just wondering if I am missing something. Thought was I needed a high watt/high current mono to get the best out of the Revel’s but not sure looking at some of the newer stuff. Budget is 10k. Thanks in advance. I listen to mostly blues and rock.

@durangoat, yes I saw that, like half price. Read some of the reviews and seems like a great amp for the $. |
I have Salon 1’s (original owner-currently in storage) which I run off a pair of completely updated Mark Levinson 33H mono’s and ML 32 Pre. I’m currently using an equally older speaker-the Eggleston Andra II’s. The system truly delights (!) in my not particularly large room (15x20’). I’m about to pull out the Salons and will let you know how they fare with the monoblocks. The Andra Il’s have a relatively smallish appearance comparatively (not very tall but heavy as hell). I’m contemplating a $5k upgrade to Andra III for new midranges, crossover and wiring. (ISO Acoustic feet were game changers). Hope something here might be helpful. |
