Musical Fidelity CDPRE-how to use it as a CD/DAC ?

I would like to give a test to my Musical Fidelity CDPRE bypassing its internal preamp to mate it with an outboard tube preamp.
It seems that the unique chance is to plug it via the tape output as I understood from manual that volume control does not effect the tape output.
Does this means then:
1 � The tape output is purely the not volume attenuated internal DAC output
2 - The tape output has passed thru the preamp gain stage ?
Idea here is to plug the tape output to the Tube preamp
In few words, any chance to mate the CDPRE with an external preamp using its CD+DAC only stages only ?
