Mutec MC 3+ and CTronic After Dark Clock

Just wondering if anyone has tried this combo and the results?

I don’t stream and have a very good Mojo Audio NOS DAC with a Sparkler transport I’m happy with. As with all things audio can my digital setup be taken up a notch this way? TIA

Wordclocks run at speeds of typically 40-48kHz. Masterclocks such as the ones you mention run at 10mHz, devices with wordclock inputs therefore generally need devices such as the Mutec MC3+. The latter‘s performance can be further improved by adding a high precision masterclock such as After Dark, Mutec, Cybershaft, Antelope et al.

Thanks for the input I’m learning more as the thread progresses.

The big questions in my mind are-

1) Is the transport actually introducing timing artifacts to the present Dac?

2) Is a 10 MHz clock really needed for Redbook/CD format?

Dacs that have dual word clock inputs typically accept better/higher clock rates and I’m “assuming” that is driven by the need to extend support of higher sample rates typically seen via usb. I’m not familiar with the Mojo but if it doesn’t have dual word clock input then it won’t see the benefit of the higher clock rate as (Per my understanding) it takes two inputs to support that level of clocking.
This is why I would try the Mutec’s internal clock output to drive the Dac first (either AES or SPDIF) to see if the clocks improvement is even noticeable when compared to that of the transport alone.

Also- does the After Dark clock come with that fancy table coaster it’s shown with in the picture or can those be purchased separately?
