Non-Esoteric Audiophile Grade Crosspoint
Like many others, my system has grown to include many, many sources (stereo and mono turntable with dedicated external phono stages, two cassette decks, one open reel deck, fm tuner, satellite radio tuner, CD player, etc...) and processing devices (DBX encoder, decoder, compressor, expander; equalizer, etc...) not to mention future growth into streaming and DSD. I have a couple of NAD integrated amps that I’ve used daisy-chained for more inputs, and to bi-amp power my speakers. This is workable, but awkward. In pro-audio, I’ve seen analog audio crosspoint switchers, but almost all of these have balanced I/O where most of my gear only supports unbalanced; the raw specs are middling at best and the user interface borders on the clunky side. So, I ask: how do you fellow members solve this conundrum?
