Ortofon 2M Black on a SME 3009 S2 Improved

I recently upgraded my Thorens TD-124 and SMS 3009 S2 Improved turntable setup. I curremnlty have a Shure V15 Type IV mounted on the SME tonearm.

Question: has anyone run a similar rig with an Ortofon 2M Black MM cartridge? Will the Ortofon mount on the SME without setup issues? Is shis a good tonearm/cartridge combination?

Thanks for the reply, Louis.

The SME 3009/S2 Improved has an effective tonearm mass of 9.5 grams. From your response, the Ortofon will be a great match for this tonearm.

Hello Greg,

This should be a fine choice. The V15 was known to be a rather high compliance cartridge, as is the 2M Black.

If my memory serves me correctly, the SME 3009 S2i is a fairly low mass arm. That should be a good combination.
