Plinius is a very nice match for the Totems. Not sure if you can find the 9200 for under $2k but the 8200 runs a close second. Both have phono and occasionally come up on A'gon.
Past and Present Totem Arro Owners: Favorite Integrated?
I’m about to take delivery of some 2005 Totem Arros, and I’m looking for suggestions for a great integrated from people who have/had Arro speakers. Amps I am considering include:
Ayre
Blue Circle FtTH
Naim - who knows which one...?
Unison Unico
Looking for used under $2,000, and phono would be nice to keep it in one box...
Thanks!

I ran the ARROS in my "B" system with an ARCAM A32 integrated amp that superseded a NAD C370 integrated amp. https://www.arcam.co.uk/products,fmj-a32-integrated-amplifier.htm My take: (1) The ARCAM smoked the NAD (2) I would pay pay more attention to the quality build and performance of the source . Any of SIMAUDIO , AYRE, PLINIUS, ARCAM, or NAIM integrated amps will do nicely (I have heard the ARROs with all of ’em....) with no identifiable winner; but if you chintz on the source, ......’nuff said. (3) I recommend that you consider the TOTEM TRESS or CHORD ODYSSEY or RUMOUR speaker cables (both are silver plated copper twist cables ...the TOTEMs are CHORD clones ) . I auditioned a plethora of contenders and pretenders and agreed that TOTEM’s recommendation is valid. Bi-wiring offered no perceptible improvements. |
