Phono to pre cable swap

I replaced Nordost Valhalla 1 with Nordost Odin 1; phono stage to preamp.  With the Odin,  the sound is fuller and more lifelike.   Problem is, featured instruments sound muffled and distant compared to the rest of the melody.  What happened??

Phono - Boulder 2008
Pre - Boulder 2010
Cartridge - Ortofon Anna
Tonearm - Durand Talea

Thanks in advance,

"Muffled and distant." That sure doesn't sound "fuller and more lifelike to me."
How did it sound when compared with Synergistic Research? They all sound fuller and more lifelike. But never muffled and distant.
That is odd. I just replaced a Tyr 2 (preamp to amp) IC with Odin 1. More open and blacker background. Like most changes as you move up the Nordost line it removed a layer of noise.

If the Odin 1 have not been used for a while you should see if your dealer can burn them in on his Vidar for you.
For example, i was listening to the king James Version, 1st track "corner pocket ". When the track begins the sound of the band was better, as compared to using the Valhalla.   When the trumpet is introduced within the track; the trumpet was distant and muffled. The change happened with other tracks and records.

The Odin were previously being used on my CD player without this issue. However,  I will keep playing music through them and see if things change.

Thanks for responding,
