Phono to pre cable swap

I replaced Nordost Valhalla 1 with Nordost Odin 1; phono stage to preamp.  With the Odin,  the sound is fuller and more lifelike.   Problem is, featured instruments sound muffled and distant compared to the rest of the melody.  What happened??

Phono - Boulder 2008
Pre - Boulder 2010
Cartridge - Ortofon Anna
Tonearm - Durand Talea

Thanks in advance,
Jose

When playing vinyl, especially with some Direct to Discs, I find reversing polarity (available on my phono stage), helps with image specificity.      If your system offers an easy method, try it.      It’s been my experience; the better the recording, system, and presentation, the easier it is to notice, "The Wood Effect", which (to my ears) results in what you’re describing.      Just a possibility.      I also agree with letting them, "settle".
The Valhalla sound is thin yet detailed (analog side of the system).  So I thought, swap the cables and see how Odin (previously on the digital side of the system) sound on the analog side of my system.

@rodman99999   thank you for teaching me the name to describe what is happening.

I will check polarity, and will also allow them additional time to burn-in/settle.

Thank you all,

Jose
Can’t swear that’s what happening, in your system.      That’s just what reversed phase sounds like, to me, with some recordings.     Here’s hoping you find audio bliss.     It can be elusive!
