Pioneer transport faulty or is it the CD?

I am listening to the stereophile CD-- Attention Screen 'Live at Merkin Hall' on my Pioneer 414 DVD transport running into my EAD 7000 Mk 3 DAC. The DAC's error lights are going crazy, finally after song 3 the transport shuts down. Now the sound prior seemed to be ok, but clearly there was bits missing and a problem somewhere. Could it be the CD is faulty or is it more likely the transport can't handle the info on the disk or? BTW, this CD seems to sound great, BUT the music...well that's another story.
