Preamp Deal of the Century

If anyone is looking for a true "World Class" preamp at a very fair price..heed my advice. I just recieved a Supratek Syrah preamp that was hand built by Mick Maloney in Western Australia, and it is absolutely beautiful! This preamp is the best deal you will ever find. I would put it up against any preamp out there for both looks and sound. Price? $2500 for the Syrah (includes Killer Phono stage). Not into phono? Try the Chardonney line stage for $2100. Don't get me wrong, I am not associated with this company. I am just a very happy owner! This preamp is VERY dynamic, yet liquid. It conveys the sound of music better than any other preamp that I have ever heard! You can check out the Supratek website at www. cantech.net.au

Recently I got my Syrah form Basstwo in HK who is now using Kent passive pre into DCS DAC. He told me it's more transparent with Kent, but less musical than with Syrah.
My combo consists of Apogee Stage,Syrah,Mentmore m-200(200w mono tube), Proceed CDP, MSB Gold Link. When adding Syrah, my hifi set sound much better. Nothing complainable. I listened to CAT III, Matisse Fantasy, CJ Pimier 14. Nothing is more impressive than Syrah.
Just replaced Sicte 6NS7(any one knows this Italian tube, pls hsare your experience) with CBS 5692 brown base(1958) on Syrah. The CBS sounds fuller but darker and less tranparent than Sicte. I hope the CBS can get better in hi-end with further burn-in. Or maybe my system(esp. Apogee) needs more extended hi-end rather than mid-low band which is the strength of CBS.
Recently I replaced the Italian Sicte6sn7s on Syrah with CBS5692s red base. My Apogee Stages' high frequency get bright ,hot and tend to be noisy. It made me very fidgeted. After I return to Sicte. The music comes back. The Apogees sound liquid, transparent and relax. The backgrund became quiet. I can't understand the differeces made by Sicte and CBS. Is anything wrong? My Syrah was produced in 2001.
As a very rare Chinese user of Supratek(I'm a proud owner of Syrah ), I'm very sorry to know Mick will wind up Supratek. Particularly, one of reason that force Mick to give up is the competition from China as well as EX rate. As a fiancial journalist, I seem to experienced a live story of EX rate. I will love my Syrah more. Best wish to Mick and hope you make another wonderful real SYRAH in your new veinyard.
