I've heard the 909/99 pre combo on the 63's, it sounds great. I'm currently running the 909/99 combo on some new German made ESL-57's. I've just replaced my Mcintosh C2200 pre, MC275 amp and Audio Research CD-3 w/ all QUAD gear. Slightly different sound but still very engaging. It's also much smaller and easier to place.
