Request for a recommendation on a small footprint floor standing speaker

Hello everyone, I'm new and trying to put together my first decent stereo system. Thank you for your help. I know to start with the speaker. My room is about 12x14 and I'd prefer a small footprint floor stander in wood veneer. The options I've come across are below; my question is if there is anything else I should consider? I live where it's not easy to demo any speaker. My budget is in the ballpark of the speakers below.

1. I really like the looks of the Evo 4.3 in walnut
2. Ohm Walsh micro or 1000
3. Magnepan LRS (not wood but seems less weighty in the room because of its narrow width.)

Are there other speakers that I should consider? Or any other advice you have for me?
Many thanks!

I second the Salk idea. Check out their website and the various options. If you contact them, they are likely to be able to let you know what amps they believe work best with their speakers.
Thank you very much for the recommendations. I appreciate it!

I'm fine with new or used. Speaker budget is up to about 2k. Amp budget is up to about 2k. (I've had recommendations for Schiit Vidar if I go with the Magnepan LRS.)

The Magnepans are attractive from a value standpoint.... everyone says they are wonderful for the price. That's appealing to my frugal side.

My source is strictly digital. I just signed up for Amazon Music HD. I'm still figuring out the best way to get music into the amp. For now I'm using a Dragonfly Red from my iPhone and a headphone to RCA cable.

I also probably need a DAC with volume controls and preferably tone controls too. Does such a thing exist?

This forum is fantastic, thanks for your help. The learning curve in hifi is steep.
Although the PMC twenty5.21i speaker is the most compact model in the new PMC range, there’s nothing small about the sound, which has the impact you’d expect from a much larger cabinet.

I have my PMC speakers sitting on my Cabinet (no speaker stands) and it sounds wonderful.
