Stereo potentiometer tone controller

Hello, please let me know if this stereo tone controller diagram works for CD6283 ic based stereo amp? Each potentiometer 100k, both speakers 8ohm.

The volume control appears it will work but I can't determine if the bass and treble will work. What is the reason to use this particular volume control? Given what I see here, a standard audio taper stereo potentiometer will work just fine for volume control.
