you responded to my request for "speaker upgrade help" a while back. i never did find tannoys. (that may change now that i have a paypal account.) i thought you may find it interesting however. i found some old 801 matrix for $1200: no grills and crushed woofer dust cap on one speaker. cheap for all the right reasons... they didn't buzz with a cheap receiver at the demo so i bought 'em. hooked 'em up @ home and the image is huge compared to the 685's with sub. and the goofy discontinuity i always heard with the sub is gone.

so the 801's have properly built voice coils?
