The best speaker you ever heard?

In my opinion, the speaker is by far the most important part of the audio system. After all, it is the only part you hear. OK, the other stuff really matters a lot, but without a great speaker... No go.

I am a bit 'speaker-obsessed' I guess, and now I am wondering: What are the best speakers you have ever heard, and what made them the best?

Macrojack, If you go look at July's Issue of Stereophile they reviewed the Audience ClairAudient 2+2 speakers and the writer made comments about the "possible audible benefits of having only ONE type and SIZE of SPEAKER DRIVER, AND NO PASSIVE-CROSSOVERS". This is sure true with the 901's !
I don't why people are so freaked out by the use of an active equalizer like the BOSE 901 uses. All the purist vinyl fans don't seem to mind the RIAA equalizer built into every phono preamp......
From Bose site: Today, thanks to Bose electronics research, our 901 speaker system incorporates some 350 enhancements over the acclaimed original.

That's alot of enhancements.
One of the MOST IMPORTANT things and most overlooked things with the Bose 901's is using really good interconnects and speaker cables with these speakers. This is just as important with the 901's as speaker set up is ! I think a lot more people would like these 901's if they would just use better cables with these speakers. You are never going hear the full potential of these 901's until you use better cables with them !...
