About a month or two ago, someone wanted to know some good piano lp's and another poster suggested Herbie Hancock's 'The Piano'. I had never heard it and found it today at my local record store so I picked it up. This is such an amazing recording I would just like to thank whom ever posted that recommendation. Not sure who it was, but thanks. This is fantastic.
Its been one of my favorites since first listen; and Ive never understood why it isnt held in higher regard. Im glad you fellas are talking about it.
I had forgotten all about direct to disc. I have several LPs direct to disc in storage. This is a Great recording and music. He made another one like this one entitled Directstep on amazon sellers for a cool $113 used. I will try to make do with this one. :)
I placed an order on Amazon for 'The Piano' on compact disc ($24) and about 3 weeks later I got an e-mail stating that the order has been cancelled because the seller was out of stock. This past Saturday my wife and I decided to pump a little money into the local economy and visited our local record shop. Low and behold, there it was. One copy left for $13. Picked it up along with Cassandra Wilson's 'Silver pony'. A very worthwhile trip to the store to say the least.
