Tom Waits Bad?

Tom Waits has many a devoted fan. But since I began to haunt the audiophile sites, I've noticed a particular animosity, even cringing hate, directed toward the artist. I would be especially interested in the perspective of those who do not care for his craft. I know, curiosity kills...

Tom Waits is an acquired taste. When I was younger, I really didn't care for him. As I've aged, I can listen to certain albums with admiration.
To really enjoy Tom Waits you have to see him live. He really just takes over the energy in whatever venue he performs in.Another thing is most of his stuff is recorded very well.
I own 10 of Tom’s albums so I’m a fan… except for his Glitter & Dome stuff. That to me is an assault on his artistry. If anyone wants my copy of Glitter & Dome Live… for free… except for postage… let me know and it’s yours
Waits is as innovative, esoteric, and unforgiving as they come...somedays its just what I needed...on others its a migraine from.hell
To see him live is almost impossible for few reasons: Rarely tours and once on tour the tickets are more-likely sold shortly after announcement if announced. Street ticket scalpers would sell tickets to you for near 10x the actual price. He's a nation's #1 underground Artist, Actor, maestro and songwriter. Downloaded movie "Ironweed" and can't archive or delete it cuz always wanna watch mainly of TW not Jack Nicholson that picks up the identical roles in all his movies that are played with one his standard style.
Lucky you if you don't care of TW at all. You don't have to wait and spend large dollars for his concerts.
