Trap TT vibrations with lint traps

My heavily-modified (KAB) Technics TT sits on top of 4 threaded Mapleshade Heavyfeet under which I have maybe 40 pounds of maple butcher block set on Mapleshade Isoblocks. Browsing the aisles at CVS, I came upon Helping Hand brand washing machine lint traps in packs of 2. These are simply rolled pieces of steel mesh. I bought two packs for $5 and placed them between the Isoblocks and maple. Wouldn't you know, but the sounds cleaned up several notches. I'm not sure if vibrations are being captured before they reach the table or if this is simply a frequency tuning thing, but it especially cleans up the bass. These traps are probably 80% "hole" and 20% steel and have some springiness, so intuitively they should have some damping properties.
