What could be the problem or have given up its assigned duties. Proceed PAV

Hello fellow forum members. I know some of you may have some knowledge I would like to tap into.
As recently as yesterday my Proceed PAV has given up the ghost. Not being an expert by far I think it' the failure of the power supply, maybe. Any suggestions or expert analysis of the following descriptive symptoms would be greatly appreciated. So here goes.
1. Prior owner stacked the PAV directly on top of the PDSD unit and melted the rubber feet on the PAV.  So there had been extreme heat applied to the bottom of the unit at some time.
2. Consistent inability to get on OSD to access the menu. Was able to get one but it was hit and miss. If video cable was disconnected after getting a signal you would not get a signal if you reconnected unless you got lucky. Rebooting the unit made no difference. Sometimes it worked sometimes it did not. So once you got a signal you left it alone.
Everything else worked flawlessly.  Then recently I had to make some changes due to addition to my systems and had to disconnect the video cable and cut power to the unit. No other diconnections occurre.
On powering up front panel led and window all seemed normal but no sound to be heard from any source. (Yes amp was powered up). Checked all connections and rechecked. Isolated amp to another pre and amp checks out fine.
Reset PAV by unplugging and waiting and replugging. Upon powering up the display shows 2 horizontal bars for about 5 seconds and then shows its normal info but still no sound. On turn off/on sequence following that the unit shows 2 horizontal bars and fails to go to normal standby mode. Turned of unit by using switch on back and back on, unit cycles thru start up, goes into standby normally. Turn on unit no sound from any source nor OSD.
Sooo..... what does the forum community and experts think? Am I in the ballpark with my thinking power supply?
Unit worked great and sounded awesome prior to this.
