Who has bought vintage HiFi from Japan using Zen Market or other proxy service?

Hi.  Does anyone have experience buying vintage japanese hifi from Japan via Yahoo Auctions or more specifically, through proxy services like Zen Market?  You place your bids through ZM and seller ships it to ZM and they reship it to you in the US (or probably anywhere) for an additional fee.

My concern is that this vintage Technics amplifier is 35kg before packaging.  Has anybody had problems or success in buying and shipping something so large and delicate as an amplifier?  Other than the extra shipping (~$350ish) have you run into customs issues?  Value of goods is roughly $1600.

I'd just like to hear some success stories before I take the leap.
