Greetings all, newbie here. My room is 10x15 ft with hardwood floor and 10 ft ceiling. I have Reference Mod Jolida 801A with Quad 2L's. My tt is cheap Pioneer PL115 with a Ortofon Red cartridge. When albums or ipod play there is a constant hiss in speakers. Any thoughts?
I'd bet that you are having to turn your volume up to play those sources, and are hearing, "tube rush." Try to find a pair of 12AX7A's that have been tested, and certified, "low noise- preamp grade."
