My take on the situation...
There's too many hifi companies who claim to be the dog's bollocks, when in fact they're just plain bullocks. Too many companies claiming BS and not enough no-nonsense companies IMO. I find the hifi voodoo least in speaker companies for dome reason though.
Musical Fatality (err Fidelity) is a bollocks company IMO. The latest product is claimed to be brill (assuming that's short for brilliant?). Fast forward 6 months and the new and improved version of the brill amp is now ace. Fast forward another 6 months and the newer and more improved version is the dog's bollocks. Hope I got the hierarchy correct.
Then there's a company like Bryston. They take about 7 years to update their line. Why? They claim slight improvements they could make aren't worth the cost to the consumer. They also want to make sure any new and improved parts will easily last the duration of their no-nonsense 20 year transferrable warranty.
Bryston's just one example, but happens to be my favorite. Companies like McIntosh, Conrad Johnson, and Balanced Audio (BAT) fall into this camp too. They're all expensive, but you get your money's worth IMO.
For the record, Musical Fidelity isn't bad gear, I just don't like their house sound. It's a preference thing. They build quality stuff for the most part, but why do they constantly have to update their line?
However, their are plenty of brands who's gear just flat out isn't worth the money. How many times have you heard a system cost multiples of your own that didn't do a thing for you. Their are far too many people who make decisions based on inflated prices and idiotic reviews.
Just my opinions. Many will disagree.
