Agreed. I've had both the Alexanders and CAST in my preamp, and the Alexanders are close to the CAST in tone and clarity. They are just slightly muddier sounding in the bass IMO than the hockey-puck CAST they were compared with.
The CAST that PCX has the special on are the third different style of 630V CAST I've seen. First were the hockey pucks, then the rectangular bricks, and now they look like standard cylindrical caps but with radial leads. I wonder if the different forms mean what's inside is different? The new ones look like standard machine-wound caps - is that the reason they cost less? Alexanders in a paper sleeve? No evidence either way, just askin'...
