Dazed and confused

I own a pair of Coincident Super Elipse III's that are suppose to be 94db and 14ohm," able to be driven by anything". Then why did my Cary sli-80, 80 watts per channel( kt-88 based) integrated amp drive these speakers so much better than my VTL it-85 80 watt (el-34 tube based) integrated amp? The VTL does not have any where near the punch and runs out of "steam" very easily. My Unison Unico drives them better yet, I assume that is an electrical current issue? Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

My el-34 tubes are not as powerful as my kt-88 tubes in the power amp. I guess that may be a reason. I used to have the Coincident with Cary SLI-80, and just loved it.
VTL output transformer should be rewired for 8 Ohms.
I can send the VTL colour code info of the output transformer.
You gentlemen are correct. The VTL is wired for a 5ohm load, why I dont know. If it will help too rewire it that would be great. Please explain to me why it make a difference.
Thanks
Mike
