Toggle switch cleaning?

I have a preamp with a toggle switch for changing phase. Sometimes I lose the left channel on switching. Is this something that can be cleaned at home, simply and safely? Or can this be worn out? Thanks. Pete

I suppose it would be reasonable to give that a try, Pete, assuming as I said that there is a way to get it inside the housing of the switch. I'm not completely certain, though, as Caig's D5 is more specifically intended to dissolve corrosion, while the G series is intended mainly as a contact enhancer/conditioner/protectant for contact surfaces that are already mostly corrosion-free.

If there is corrosion, maybe but WD-40 tends to get gummy and attract dust as it ages. Could be a short term fix w long term consequences. Why not use contact cleaner?
