I'm looking for good analog interconnects

I am looking to replace Audioquest King Cobra RCA interconnects between my Music Hall mmf 5.1 TT and my Musical Surroundings Phonomena II+. I am using a nice used set of Pure Note ICs between the phono stage and my Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum. I am looking for a 0.5M cable in the $200 price range used. I had Audioquest King Cobra's between the PS and the amp and liked the detail and clarity that came from the change to Pure Note cables. I'm looking for a similar detailed, realistic sound that lacks brightness. The AQ cables are good, but are a bit bright. Thanks.

What cartridge are you using? The interaction between the characteristics of the particular cartridge and the capacitance of the particular phono cable (in combination with the input capacitance of the Phonomena II+, which unfortunately appears to be unspecified) may affect the brightness you are perceiving more than anything else. Especially if it is a moving magnet cartridge.

Copper AQ overall, usually doesn't lean towards brightness. Not saying it can't happen, but I wouldn't rule out other possibilities. If you know someone who has DBS cables, see if you can borrow them. I use them on my TT setup and find that they take less time to break in, and they also stay broken in for much longer periods. Depending on how much you use your TT, break in may be a factor.
It wasn't bright in my system. Acoutic Zen Absolute, that replaced it, has pretty much the same neutral sound. King Cobra had great reviews as Python, before AQ moved production to China, lowered prices (to stay competitive) and renamed cables.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Much appreciated. Al, I have an Ortofon Magic 3 (made for Music Hall) cartridge. I've set the gain on the Phonomena II+to 44dB for the modest gain of the Magic 3 at 3 mV. I'm not sure what I ought to be looking for or comparing when considering the interconnects between the TT and phono stage. Please let me know what I should be considering. Thank you. I was considering an Acoustic Zen cable and will look into the DBS cables as well. Regards, Pete
