You are not serious if you haven't bought your wife a nice car because you feel a little guilty about how much $$$ you have spent that she doesn't know about.

You are not serious if you can remember "how much that cost" when your wife asks.

You are not if you haven't figure out the difference between PCL and DSD.
you are not if your software Music doesn't have a second backup copy.
if you are not playing from NAS.
if you don't have  separate component for each stage.. better if you have multiple components for each stage ;).
if you don't spend time looking at new listing on audiogon..

You're not a serious audiophile if you never took advantage of a sensitive moment to buy something - I told my wife that I was negotiating a new pair of speakers the day my first kid was born. There she was holding the baby with tears of pain and joy and I just told her "Honey, I found a real good bargain, the speakers I've been talking about for almost half price. I'm ordering them later today! ... Our baby is sooo cute!"
