I forgot to add the late, great Cozy Powell to our list.

OK, he's not the most technical drummer in the world, but he could keep a great Neu-like motorik beat going while the rest of the band were flying their Silver Machines on some other planet. I heard he gave up music and worked in local government for a long time - what a shame.

@ danaroo, It's funny that most here do not have a clue who Mike portnoy is!, I agree, definitely the top best drummer of all time.

audiolabyrinth, it's just as funny how no-one knows who Pierre Moerlen is, given he had a long career as a drummer, percussionist, musician and technician. It may just be a generation gap.
