Lee Ann Womack

I happened to see a story about her newest disc (The lonely, the lonesome & the gone), took a chance, and it's become one of my favorite discs, often on repeat.  I realize most know her from one cross-over hit (I was in that group-and an old friend of mine co-wrote that one) but there is a LOT more to her than that song.  This is a great great recording with great songs, if you like and appreciate this type of east-Texas "classic" country.  If you do, this is well worth a listen.

Dang rpeluso, I didn't realize you are into Americana (my preferred term for the genre) as much as I! I will definitely give Lee Ann another chance, I may have been too hasty.
mofimadness, you might check out Amanda Pearcy, another Texas (Austin) singer/songwriter.  Her second release, "Royal Street," is the best place to start IMO.

Re: Lee Ann - I thought her version of "Don’t listen to the Wind" on the Americana Awards show was very good.
