I believe the op was referring to human vocals. Lisa Gerrard's voice is clearly not of this world.

In light of the upcoming Holidays, "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" as sung by Darlene Love, an absolute masterpiece produced by Phil Spector.

Actually one I forgot to mention was Judy Garland. "Somewhere over the rainbow" is simply stunning.
