JBL lovers

Can anybody help? I have cam 200s and cremona auditors, very nice sounding, but does'nt sound that great on classic rock. I am thinking of trading for mc 60s and vintage JBLs. I have never heard a vintage system, will I loose all the detail and seperation that I hear now.I think my system sounds to nice, but has some good sounds that I don't want to give up. JBLs have big woofers will the bass be out of control? Which JBLs are highly sought after and are the ones with what I think are horns in them "the ones with the louvers" the way to go?

My father had a pair of l220 oracles that could definately rock and sounded rather nice. I'll admit to not having heard any other classic JBLs, but the l220s were a fun pair of speakers. You might enjoy the info here (more direct link to the lansing heritage page regarding their speakers) Lansing Heritage
I had 4311b Control Monitors purchased around 1980. I remember them being wonderfully clear and natural sounding. Kind of bookshelf sized but really heavy and with bass that could rattle windows. I often wonder what they would sound like with the tube gear I have now.
I own a pair of $4500, highly respected monitors. Last summer I picked up a pair of JBL L200Bs for $600 bucks. I absolutely could not believe my ears-driven with a Jeff Rowland Concentra-it is an open, articulate sound, detailed with a huge sound stage. I purchased my first set of speakers in 1971, and they were JBLs. I have always loved the sound but they could be bright and peaky, what was described as the WEST COAST sound. However with upgraded electronics I find this no longer the case. I fo back and forth between the two speakers, but if I had to make a choice, I probably would go with the JBLs. Actually I would try to pick up a pair of L300 Summits. I also have a pair of Jubals I want to sell and they are a great sounding speaker also.
Depending on your budget, you can look at the L150A. I own a pair of those which were refoamed and are in mint condition, I will upgrade the internal wiring and some parts in the crossover when I have time, I've been told it makes a great improvement.

Good Luck
those of you who think l7 is not adequate, are sadly mistaken! Krell 700cx, Ayon 2s,taralabs, the one, cables.,stillpoints uitra ss footers, most speakers are over hyped!
