back to Brubeck........a couple years ago or so as I discovered the many wonders of music on youtube I came across a video of Dave Brubeck and band at Newport .....I think it was 1971,Dave was wearing quite a funky outfit of plaid pants ......and the video was over an hour solid and though I was somewhat familiar with his music this was my most deep immersion in it and I watched/listened to this over and over enchanted . I don't think this particular video is still circulating,at least I can't find it intact as it was. Jerry Mulligan,Paul Desmond .....wow and a reminder to myself that emotion and beauty can be transmitted musically even through meager means.
I've had many a youtube musical moment, but I'd say this
Dave Brubeck, and around the same time chronologically, discovering
Chopin's nocturnes, after seeing the movie The Pianist , have been
two of the most profound recorded musical experiences I've had .
