Going back to a previous post... regarding "Is there such thing as a perfect album?"
When I wrote that I was listening to "Southern Accents" which brought that question to mind. To me, "SA" is a perfect album. I think it is my favorite Heartbreakers album as well.
It has everything.... first and foremost the albums’ title is the theme for the entire record that Tom so greatly expresses with his voice and his lyrics. I think this album set a very high bar for him going forward. An interesting tidbit is he brought in some brass and strings on an album entitled Southern Accents and it all works perfectly!
I replayed "Southern Accent"
Smashing Pumpkins "Machina/the machines of God". IMO, "Machina" is an overlooked record. And I'll go ahead a say it... I think it's every bit as good as "Siamese Dream". Especially from an artistic/technical perspective. It doesn't have the radio friendly and very memorable hits but a really great lp that no one talks about.
