Regarding Yo La Tengo, I played "Electr-O-Pura" last week and it really sounded very good. Putting on "Painful" now.

Regarding the use of carbon fiber and balsa....Richard Vandersteen used a mix of those two materials in the driver cones in his (7) speaker. I’m going by memory but believe I’m correct. He is an avid pilot so his use of balsa makes sense from that aspect...light and stiff.

Regarding your bearing material, I assume you liked the hard coating over the softer metal....the hard coating for dealing with wear and the softer metal for dealing with damping resonances?
