All three rectifiers (5Y3, 5V4, 5AR4) will drop the B+ voltage by different amounts. They also have different maximum current ratings - the 5AR4/GZ34 being the highest. Because of this (and scarcity) real vintage 5AR4's are rather expensive. The Russian ones may be relabeled 5V4's - same for the Chinese. So buyer beware!

I got these tubes 3 years ago on Ebay and been using them on Hagtech Clarinet preamp and Hagtech Cornet 2
phone preamp for less than 30 hours and has better sonics, IMO, than the stock 5Y3GT tubes.
I am leaning towards the belief that this is really a 5AR4 considering these pictures.
