Looking for the best Preamp with a phono circuit built in

Ralph’s preamps look great. Every time I visit his site, they look better every time. I had a BAT VK50 preamp back in the day. All balanced design from inputs to outputs. I’ve gone back to SE RCA’ed designs, but my heart lingers for that balanced purest design. 

Please read my write-up on preamp shoot out.  Although it has a couple of dedicated phono sections, I do compare an AI mod 3b, CAT SL-1 and Doge 8 all of which I owned for quite awhile.  And once again, a BIG impact is synergy, starting with your cartridge.  I feel the needs of different cartridges can make any one of the preamps sound “right”.

Give some thought to a VAC Renaissance mk5 with phono as a final preamplifier purchase. Sounds great and mates very well with solid state or tube amplifiers, for present and future versatility.
