Whats on your turntable tonight?

@bdp24 - I played Chris Hillman - "Desert Rose" tonight. Very nice. Really good sound quality, good performances and good music. I wouldn't call it "hardcore" Bluegrass. I'm from Kentucky and I've heard a lot of Bluegrass bands from up in the mountains. Desert Rose is much more polished than the Bluegrass Bands I heard in my youth. I would call it Bluegrass Lite!

Doesn't matter what you call it. It's simply good music IMHO. Unfortunately the cover of the copy I bought (for 15 cents) is pretty trashed. I might look for a better copy, albeit at a much higher price (like $1)!

@reubent, you're right, in the context of Bill Monroe, Jim & Jesse, Flatt & Scruggs, The Louvin Brothers, The Stanley Brothers, Merle Travis, Del McCoury, etc., Chris isn't particularly hardcore. But I used the term with the typical Audiogoner in mind. You're not typical!
