dac with digital & analog out puts

Marantz NA7004 has digital and analog outputs. But I don't understand what you want to do with the digital output (I listen to music daily and have several blu ray disc I like. Is there a dac that I can use behind my cheap dvd player that has both a analog and digital output... giving me analog out to my stereo system, 5.1 to my surround system... the two systems or not connected...)

I want to continue to use the dvd player in my HT... anyway I found a solution.... passthru is the word...
