Mytek Brooklyn Bridge Problem

Hi

I just purchased MBB and encounter problems with Tidal streaming and local storage.

Am using Mconnect app to stream as suggested but it is unable to play songs completely. It will stop playing the song after it just started and it cannot detect both HDD and Thumb drive connected to its USB port.

Would appreciate help in these matters.

Thanks & regards,

Update on my issues:

First, there are two versions of MConnect, MConnect Player and MConnect Control. The MConnect Player is apparently more for the Apple OS and Control is for Android tablets. There is also the Lite version of each. Go to Conversdigital.com for specifics.

I bring the up the above because I am trying EVERYTHING to make the dang BB's USB thumb drive visible on whichever of the versions I can. I can often see the BB (can play to) depending of some still unknown factors, although rarely can I see the thumb drive contents. The times I HAVE seen the contents it was hyper-slow even showing up; it took a few minutes. It's much worse at making a cameo when you have DSD files.

On a rare occasion I HAVE been able to play the contents for the thumb drive, but I have yet to figure out how to do it more than a few times. Each thumb drive has been 32GB or smaller per Mytek's guidelines.

I have tried the BB on two WIFI networks. It worked better on one (stay at that location occasionally) than it does my network where I usually stay. Both are fast, but the one I have more trouble with is running at 500 mbs!

I decided to eliminate WIFI and run an Ethernet cable directly to the BB. No real difference; it's intermittently successful even seeing the BB and even less so the thumb drive.

I am beginning to think that the marriage between Mytek and MConnect is a rocky one AT BEST.

In addition to all of this Mytek is well behind on their manual for the BB. There are a lot of functions not fully explained. For one, I cannot find "sync". What does the streamer "off/on/auto" really do? I was thinking that "auto" might shut off after some period of inactivity resulting in some of my frustrating making connections (thinking it was actually off). So, I leave it on. I assume that the USB driver is only for the PC and has nothing to do with whether an Android device can see a thumb drive. There are several functions where the manual is deficient.

Lastly, I also have an iPad Pro as well as Android phones (S5 and an S9+) and the I-pad cannot see the thumb drive either! No drivers required for the Apple OS either.

I am still trying and hoping that this stuff get's fixed. Most difficult $3K I ever spent.

Update as of January 2, 2020:

I still have USB thumbdrive issues with this unit. What I have gleaned from all of my testing is that using a 32GB FAST thumbdrive playing DSD64 files works pretty well, although I tend to turn on the BB and wait a couple of minutes. It also definitely matters which MConnect version I use. Anyway, when listening to DSD64 and I try to play DSD256, FORGET IT. I also have little luck with the very few DSD128 files that I have.

That's my update.

I talked with Damian at Mytek and the BB does not play back DSD 128 or higher thru USB-A (thumbdrive). It wasn't clear to ME in the specs.
Hello Audiovulture. Had the same problem with My BB and both mconnect and mcontrol. The version of mconnect were Even the purchaced one, after I had the free one without that many problems. Find thou, that I missed Those options with sorting tracks and gapless render, where something I missed. So I bourght the full version. But now the app can't even connect with the BB. Now I have tried mcontrol, and I could get connection to it. But could not see Any USB stick connected to it. I found out yesterday, if you go to the cogwheel on top of the BB, choice the Mytek and maybe Even to the "wifi network selection", click on your wifi name, then back in the mcontrol menu, you should now have the USB stick Icon to choose from. Maybe its not nesseccary to do the WIFi step, but only by choosing the cogwheel and by that get info on your BB (info on firmware ect), the app does a double check on the BB, and in sense you Are by doing so, forcing the app to take a more torough look at the BB, and makes the USB Icon pop up. But yes, very clunky to do This on a daily basis. Also because the mcontrol kind of loosing the connection to the BB, just by your mobiles automatic (times) lock screen. One needs to go to the mobiles settings, and turn of automatic/timed lock screen. Either disable it, or set a longer time period. In that way, youre making sure mcontrol always has connection to BB. It might be possible to find somewhere in the mobiles settings, some custum settings, to let the mobile know, that its okay for mcontrol to keep on playing Even after lockscreen. Let me know if you have find a solution for that. Or you find another app, more stable than Those two apps. I have btw the latest bios version for the BB. Thanks from Krustyfy btw: I Even started to make Album Flacs (single file Flac of whole album) instead of track Flac (single track Flac), in order to make site I didn't got silence in My speakers, but a continous flow of music. But having both normal single flacs and album version flacs, takes up a lot of precious space on the USB. So its not optimal at All, Even thou I also did Rip album flacs before in the past. But more only to a few specially sellected artists or abums. The USB stick Are btw 256 GB one. The big size of the USB Are not the issue, since I also had same problem with smaller sized USB's. But Are either BB's firmware or mconnect plus mcontrol's app software that needs some bug-fixing. Chooing a high quality and High Speed USB stick, might help on the loading times. Even thou, once I have made the connection between BB and the mcontrol, the speed for My current USB seems fine. But buying/choosing a good USB brand and model can't Hurt in your setup. Or method of deduction (problem fixing) your setup. Regards KrustyFy
