Higher End DACs

I am looking for a DAC (potentially streamer&DAC) to be paired in a mcintosh system (c1100/611). Its my first foray into digital streaming and I have no need for a CD player.

I see a lot of love for Esoteric, however, most seems to be around their transports? Are they not as renowned for pure digital streaming and/or standalone DACs? I see DCS (for instance) often referenced for standalone DACs - how does Esoteric compare?

Thank you David Ten for re steering the conversation.

The OP should try to listen to whatever product or products that work for him.
The one who creates the best sound will always be the best in audio. In the end, each individual person will choose for that product or system that reveals and creates the highest level of emotion and realism. This is how human emotion works.

You can sell as many brands and products as you want. When you forget most details in sound, you will always create a limited level in the end result.
Bo, Kenjit and Technodude could sure get alot accomplished if only they would team up...hey, maybe they are one in the same!
@david_ten

thanks for giving me an oasis in the deluge of off-topic replies since I last checked in!

could you share a little more behind your thought process of not considering MQA limitations in your decisioning?  Is it the relative lack of content?  The uncertainty about its scalable future?  The inconsistency of its advancement over other high resolution formats?

thank you!

ufguy73 thanks for starting this really interesting thread
I believe two pages ago you were thinking in the $15k range for DAC, if still so, have you considered the Simaudio 780d v2?  It handles virtually all formats including MQA and does have a streamer built in to get up and running and bypass if you like (it is really 90% DAC). Not sure compatibility with Mac but there is a dealer in the bay area that carries both lines.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your journey with us.
