Actually isolation is not for keeping vibration out of the speakers, itโs for keeping the vibration made by the speaker cabinets from getting to the front end electronics and cables lying on the floor. Secondary reason for isolating speakers is to reduce cabinet resonance as seen ๐ in the Max Townshend YouTube video. To summarize, you ideally would want to isolate everything.
Townshend Seismic Isolation Podium
I understand the physics behind isolation and the sonic benefits that decoupling achieves, and I am seriously considering purchasing a set for my KEF R11โs. (I currently use an ISO Acoustic Aperta 300 for my R2c, as well as some older ISO-A stands for a set of LSX). I am wondering if anyone here has any experience with Townshend Podiums in particular, and can give a thumbs up or down. Thx !
